Every year, the Central Eurasian Studies Society holds elections for the Presidency and the CESS Board. CESS Members play a role in the leadership of the Society by putting forward candidacies, standing as candidates, and voting in the election of the leaders. You can see the current CESS leadership on the CESS Presidents and Board page, and you can see something about the work that the leadership is involved in by looking at the page on CESS's organization and activities.
The elections will fill the position of President-Elect, as well as two Board Members. The Presidency is a three-year role which cycles through the positions of President-Elect, President and Past President, and the holders of these three positions make up the Society's Executive Committee. The CESS Board, in addition to including the three president-roles, consists of six more Board Members serving three-year terms, two of which start their term each year following the election. Those elected in each year's election take up their terms beginning from the next Annual Conference.
The 2016 Election, completed on May 31st, yielded the following new members of the CESS leadership:
Amanda Wooden (President-Elect)
If you are would like to offer a candidacy for either of the roles, any CESS member can make a nomination, and any nominee needs only to be a CESS member as of when the election is held. If you would like to make a nomination, please send it to CESS <firstname.lastname@example.org>. The next elections will be held in late spring 2017.
